The Weinor Modern Basics Blue® sustainable awning fabric collection is a 2021 reddot winner!

In addition to the R+T Innovation silver award and the R+T Special Sustainability Award, our new Modern Basics Blue® sustainable awning fabric collection has convinced the jury of experts in another competition. It received the reddot winner 2021 award in the Red Dot Award: Product Design category.
We are thrilled to have an internationally recognised award of the highest calibre with this design award!

Red Dot Award: Product Design

In its origins, the Red Dot Award: Product Design has been finding the year’s best products since 1955. From fashion to consumer electronics, vehicles, medical technology and furniture manufacturers and designers can submit their industrial products in 49 categories at present.

A winning product receives the distinction “Honourable Mention” or “Red Dot”. Only the outstanding products of a category receive the award “Red Dot: Best of the Best”.

The Modern Basics Blue® Collection

The modern basics blue sustainable collection from weinor, the manufacturer of high-quality awnings and patio roofs, impresses in terms of its environmental balance with recycled fabrics. This is down to 85 percent recycled PET, around 60 percent energy and 45 percent carbon emission savings in the weaving process. The spinneret dyeing used also consumes around 90 percent less water than conventional dyeing methods. Sun protection retailer and partner Blinds by Peter Meyer, the exclusive Weinor distributor in Australia and New Zealand is now offering the new, sustainable collection in its range. You can see it on display in their showroom and watch the video below.

Attractive patterns and trendy colours

“The new awning fabrics certainly impress” says Simon Meyer, Managing Director of Blinds by Peter Meyer. The 16 patterns in the new collection include modern plain fabrics in subtle shades of grey and sand, plus grey block stripes with coloured accents and modern interpretations of creative stripes in bright sunshine colours. This makes them particularly ideal for lovers of trendy modern day outdoor living.

Durable quality and reliable UV protection

The modern fabric range is an extremely resistant woven fabric developed especially for outdoor use. The fabric in question is Tempotest Starlight blue, an innovative sun protection fabric certified according to the internationally recognised Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

A high-quality protective finish ensures that dirt cannot stick to it and the fabric stays as beautiful as on day one. Certification according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 also proves that the material has been tested against harmful substances and is harmless to health. The UPF 50+ high sun protection factor indicates that 98 percent of UV radiation is blocked.

“So you can enjoy your time under the sustainable awning fabric with an all-round good feeling,” promises Simon Meyer, “it’s great that the fabrics can be used for almost all Weinor awnings.”
